Japan supports new generation ODA, promotes economic security cooperation with Vietnam

Japan supports the implementation of the new generation ODA program, promoting Vietnam-Japan cooperation in the fields of economic security, green transformation, and AI.

On July 22, at the National Assembly House, Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man received Mr. Hagiuda Koichi - Acting Secretary General of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan (LDP) and the delegation of the LDP Party visiting and working in Vietnam from July 20 - 23, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed.

At the reception, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that Vietnam always considers Japan as a top and long-term strategic partner and actively supports the leadership role and position of the ruling LDP Party.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man wished to closely coordinate with the ruling LDP Party to deepen and make the comprehensive strategic partnership more substantive, promote the concretization of the agreements of senior leaders of the two sides during Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae's visit to Vietnam in May 2026, affirming that the Vietnamese National Assembly will always support, supervise and create a transparent legal corridor to effectively implement these commitments.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man thanked and highly appreciated Japan's support and cooperation with Vietnam in socio-economic development, infrastructure completion, building legal institutions, and human resource training, including many large-scale infrastructure projects from Japanese ODA capital, which are symbols of the friendly relationship between the two countries.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man requested Mr. Hagiuda Koichi and the LDP Party Leadership to continue to pay attention to and accompany to promote cooperation between the two countries' National Assemblies by regularly maintaining high-level visits and contacts, strengthening exchanges between parliamentarians, especially young parliamentarians, female parliamentarians and parliamentarians of the LDP Party; implementing large-scale, symbolic projects on technology in the fields of digital transformation, green transformation, AI, semiconductors and infrastructure in Vietnam.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man requested the LDP Party to support and assist in organizing Vietnam - Japan Festivals in both countries, as well as local connection forums such as the 2nd Vietnam - Japan Local Forum in Hue in September 2026 and the Vietnam - Japan Cultural Exchange event at the end of September 2026 in Can Tho.

Acting Secretary-General Hagiuda Koichi affirmed that the LDP and the Japanese National Assembly support strengthening comprehensive and substantive cooperation in all fields with Vietnam, value Vietnam-Japan relations and are ready to accompany and support Vietnam in implementing its strategic autonomy goals.

Highly appreciating the role and support of the National Assemblies of the two countries for the development of Vietnam-Japan cooperation relations in the past time, Mr. Hagiuda Koichi expressed his pleasure to hear the announcement that the Vietnamese National Assembly has decided to appoint Mr. Nguyen Duy Ngoc - Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Organization Committee to assume the position of Chairman of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentary Group.

Mr. Hagiuda Koichi proposed strengthening cooperation and exchanges between the Friendship Parliamentary Group/Alliance of the two countries as well as establishing a new mechanism for information exchange between the two ruling parties in the coming time.
