PAGASA weather expert Chris Perez said: "According to our forecast, there is no possibility of a tropical storm this March, but the possibility of a storm appearing in the coming months cannot be ruled out. The April forecast could be no or just one.
PAGASA's typhoon forecast was released on March 27, a day after the agency announced the dry season had begun. The daily weather across the country will gradually warm up, although there is still a possibility of local thunderstorms, the statement said.
PAGASA also said that in the next few months, there may be 1 to 2 tropical storms entering the Philippine Forecast Area (PAR) each month. It is forecast that in July, August and September, there will be 2 to 3 tropical storms per month.
This week, PAGASA has been monitoring a low pressure area within the Philippine forecast area, east of Mindanao. However, by the morning of March 29, this low pressure had completely dissipated. Previously, experts also commented that this low pressure near the East Sea is unlikely to develop into a storm or tropical depression.
