Dubai is still safe - UAE reassures after a series of attacks from Iran

Officials in Dubai are seeking to protect the city's image as a "safe haven" in the Middle East after a series of attacks from Iran.

As of March 15, the UAE has suffered hundreds of attacks from Iran since February 28, with about 285 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles and more than 1,500 unmanned aerial vehicles launched towards this country, according to UAE defense agency data compiled by Reuters. Most of the attacks have been intercepted by air defense systems.

According to sources, the government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has stepped up a message to reassure the public and the international community that the situation in Dubai is still stable and safe.

Many influential people on social networks also participated in spreading this message, simultaneously posting content affirming that life in Dubai is still going normally.

In parallel with that, the government is said to have strengthened control over the sharing of videos and images related to attacks, especially those recording missiles or explosions.

For decades, the Gulf region has often been seen as a stable oasis in the context of a volatile Middle East.

The UAE has long built its national image with a high level of safety and a very low crime rate, while promoting Dubai as an international financial, tourism and business center.

The UAE government often emphasizes that this country is among the safest countries in the world, a factor that helps strongly attract tourists, investors and foreigners to live.

However, recent developments related to regional tensions and attacks from Iran have somewhat shaken the long-standing safe image of the UAE.

Officials in this country are currently focusing on reassuring public opinion, while controlling information spreading on social networks to limit negative impacts on Dubai's reputation and tourism industry.

In 2025, the tourism industry contributed to the UAE economy by about 79.2 billion USD, equivalent to about 13-15% of the country's GDP.

Dubai alone, the largest tourist center of the UAE, welcomed 19.59 million international visitors in 2025, belonging to the group of cities attracting the most tourists in the world.

The "safe haven" image of Dubai and the UAE plays an important role in attracting international investment, the global financial - logistics center and the tourism industry with tens of millions of visitors each year; and at the same time strengthens the geopolitical position of the UAE as a stable business center in the Middle East.
