Northeast monsoon strengthens again, many areas have heavy rain

The northeast monsoon, or amihan, is expected to strengthen again in the Philippines until December 22.

In the weather forecast bulletin for the morning of December 21, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that the northeast monsoon is affecting Batanes province, where showers are likely to appear.

We expect that in the next few days, or at least tomorrow, this northeast monsoon will continue to strengthen, said Mr. Obet Badrina, a weather expert of PAGASA.

Mr Badrina also noted that there is no warning of strong winds at sea, but the possibility of a warning on December 21 is possible, as the winds of the northeast monsoon are forecast to increase.

In addition to the northeast monsoon, wind shear and easterly winds are also continuing to affect the weather in most of the Philippines.

The wind shear, which lines the northeast and east winds, is expected to bring moderate to heavy rains to the provinces of Cagayan and Isabela.

Meanwhile, the easterly winds, which are the warm winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean, will bring moderate to widespread rain to Luzon Island on December 21, including the Bicol Region, Mimaropa, Aurora and Quezon.

Remaining areas of Luzon, including Metro Manila, are still likely to see scattered showers or thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening. Some areas in Ilocos region are likely to see lower rainfall, Badrina said.

In Palawan, the weather is forecast to be cloudy, with scattered showers and thunderstorms due to the influence of the winter wind.

In the Visayas, the possibility of cloudy skies with more widespread rain in Negros Oriental, Negros Occidental and the southern part of concubine is also due to the impact of the easterly wind.

For Mindanao, the Dinagat, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur and Davao Oriental archipelagos are forecast to have scattered showers. The remaining areas in the Philippines will have localized rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and thunderstorms.

In Vietnam, according to the weather forecast and warning from the night of December 20 to 30 of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the weather forecast for the Northern region and Thanh Hoa: There will be rain in some places, fog and scattered light fog in the early morning, sunny in the afternoon.
