Turkish Transport Minister Cahit Turhan said on television that three of the dead were ship operators.
According to Hurriyet, the high-speed train was on its way from the main train station in Ankara to Konya prefecture when it crashed. On the ship, there were 206 passengers.
This morning, an accident occurred at around 6:30 a.m. after a rapid train traveling to Konya crashed into a locomotive assigned to inspect the railway on the same route, said the governor of Turkey, Vasip Sahin, on television.
The first images from the scene show some train cars derailed, the train cars were severely damaged, and debris was scattered all over the scene with snow falling.
Anadolu news agency said that Turkey prosecutors have opened an investigation into the accident.
In July this year, a catastrophic train accident occurred in Tekirdag province, Turkey, killing 24 people and injuring hundreds. The train derailed due to eroded soil after heavy rains.
