According to Iran's semi-official Mehr news agency, there are reports of explosions on Kharg Island, which exports almost all of the country's oil.
US President Donald Trump has repeatedly threatened to bomb or occupy this island. On March 30, Mr. Trump shared on social media that the US could destroy "power plants, oil wells and Kharg Island".
Also on April 7, Iranian officials said a series of airstrikes destroyed many bridges: a railway bridge in Kashan, a train station in Mashhad, and a highway bridge near Tabriz on the Tabriz-Tehran highway.
Both the US and Israel have not claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Many attacks across the Middle East are still taking place while US President Donald Trump set a deadline of April 7 for Iran to reach an agreement or reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The deadline set by Mr. Trump is 8 pm on April 7, US time (about 3:30 am on April 8, Iran time).
On April 7, a container ship in the Persian Gulf was hit by a bullet. The attack occurred in international waters south of Iran's Kish Island, according to a statement from the UK Maritime Trade Operations Centre of the British military. The announcement said no one was injured and there was no environmental impact from this attack.
