According to the Miami Herald, for about 10 minutes, President Moise tried to call security forces for help when a group of armed men raided his private home early on July 7 (local time).
President Moise called a Haiti National Police officer at around 1:44 a.m. and urged him, "They are shooting at my house. Mobilize everyone".
After about 10 minutes and no security forces arrived to assist, Moise continued calling another officer from the Haiti National Police.
"Where are you? I need your help right now. My network is in danger. come here quickly. Please save me," said Mr. Moise.
The unnamed officer told the Miami Herald that when Moise had just finished fishing, the other end of the line was completely silent and then rang out gunfire. He immediately shouted for his colleagues to quickly provide help to President Moise: " get in the car, get in the car. We need to go now".
According to the officer, about 3 Haiti security vehicles had advanced to Mr. Moise's private home but everything was too late.
The newspaper said that how the other group passed through at least 3 police checkpoints on their way to President Moise's house and dozens of security guards inside the fence-in-chague to get into the presidential bedroom on the second floor is still an important mystery. Even none of the presidential security guards were injured.
So far, Haiti police are detaining 20 suspects directly involved in the murder, including 18 Colombians and 2 Haitians, 3 Colombians killed at the scene and 5 other suspects still in hiding.
