According to The Times of Israel, Hezbollah controlled two drones that exploded and crashed into an apartment building in the city of Nahariya (Israel). The attack took place on the morning of September 9 (local time).
Israel said there were no casualties but the attack caused severe damage to two residential apartments.
Hezbollah immediately claimed responsibility for the incident, claiming it was in retaliation for Israel's attack on southern Lebanon.
Hezbollah's initial target was the Shraga military camp of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) - just 3km south of the city of Nahariya.
However, due to some technical reasons, Hezbollah's drone could not complete its mission and crashed into a residential area.
IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi said this was “a serious incident.”
“The IDF has a large force deployed in the north and they are always ready to carry out missions,” added Herzi Halevi.
Earlier, in the early morning of September 8 (local time), Hezbollah launched 50 consecutive rockets into the northern territory of Israel . The attack did not cause any casualties but destroyed many roads and streets in the two regions of Galilee Panhandle and Kiryat Shmona.
This is also Hezbollah's response to Israel accidentally killing three emergency responders in Lebanon on September 7.
Cross-border clashes between Israel and Hezbollah have become more frequent since the conflict in the Gaza Strip began last October. Hezbollah says it is doing this in support of its ally Hamas.
