Dr. Dam Thi Hoang Lan, with over 25 years of experience in the healthcare sector, dedicated to improving the quality of public health in Vietnam, was elected Chairwoman of AmCham Vietnam on January 9, 2025. She has participated in many important health projects and programs, and contributed to policy development to increase patient access to advanced treatments at various organizations, including the Ministry of Health.
Joining MSD (Merck & Co. in the US and Canada) in 2016, Dr. Lan is responsible for policy and government relations, market access, and communications. This role has enabled her to continue her mission of improving public health in Vietnam and supporting the sustainable development of the pharmaceutical industry, as well as maintaining long-term investments.
She has made significant contributions to MSD’s achievements in Vietnam, including improving access to health care, sponsoring community education programs on vaccine-preventable diseases, and implementing several programs in Vietnam such as “MSD for Mothers” and “Rational Antibiotic Management”. These achievements have been recognized by the Ministry of Health and awarded the “For People’s Health” Medal.
Dr. Lan is also particularly passionate about sustainable development activities, initiating environmental protection activities and humanitarian blood donation of the entire MSD team every year.
Dr. Lan graduated from many prestigious universities both at home and abroad, including Hanoi Medical University, National Economics University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law and Cambridge University, UK.
Sharing about her new role, Dr. Lan said: “This is my fourth consecutive year serving on the board of AmCham Vietnam (2022-2025). I am extremely honored to take on the role of Chair for the 2025 term of AmCham Vietnam. I will do my best to advance AmCham’s mission and ensure the organization’s long-term success and influence in Vietnam.”
