“In the context of Pakistan actively mediating, we are clearly aware of the continuous spread of false information by those who want to undermine the peace agreement. Ignoring that noise, we can confirm that the final document has been agreed upon by the parties and Pakistan is closely coordinating with both sides to complete the next steps. Peace has never been as close as it is now," the Pakistani Prime Minister shared on social network X, with a post tagged with the account of President Donald Trump and US and Iranian negotiators.
A White House official revealed on June 12 that Iran agreed to an agreement based on the results of implementation, including many different contents. "This is what they agreed to. This is an agreement based on the implementation of commitments" - this official said. Accordingly, Iran's nuclear program will be completely dismantled, nuclear materials will be destroyed and taken out of the country. The Strait of Hormuz will be reopened, Iran will end funding for organizations that the US considers terrorists, and Tehran's frozen assets will not be disbursed until the Iranian government fully fulfills its commitments.
On the same day, President Donald Trump criticized information from Iranian media related to a peace agreement. "The terms that Iran revealed to fake news agencies have absolutely nothing to do with the terms that have been agreed upon in writing. What they say, including the statement that an agreement has been reached, does not reflect the truth at all" - Mr. Trump wrote on the social network Truth Social.
Earlier in the day, Iranian state media announced details of the memorandum of understanding that could be signed with the US. IRNA news agency said that according to this agreement, Iran will not make any commitments related to the transfer of management of the Strait of Hormuz. Instead, the future management mechanism of this strategic maritime route will be decided through dialogue and common consensus between Iran and Oman, a country located near the strait area. The discussion on the future of Iran's nuclear program will take place within 60 days after the agreement is signed.
On Iran's side, on June 12, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that a memorandum aimed at ending fighting "has never been so close". "While waiting for completion, the media should avoid speculation about the content of this document. According to our responsible and transparent approach, all details will be announced to the public at the appropriate time" - Mr. Araghchi wrote on X.
Foreign Minister Araghchi also revealed some more details about the draft memorandum between Tehran and Washington. According to him, issues related to the nuclear program will be resolved in the second 60-day negotiation phase.
In a statement on Iranian state television, Mr. Araghchi said that the draft agreement includes 14 clauses and has not yet been signed. He also emphasized that the information circulating about the content of the agreement should not be considered a final document.
According to the Iranian diplomat, the first phase of the agreement focuses on ending the conflict, in which Iran and the US commit to not interfering in each other's internal affairs. This document also includes clauses aimed at ending fighting in both Iran and Lebanon.
Mr. Araghchi also said that if the negotiators complete the final stage of the negotiation, the agreement will be signed remotely by the two sides before being officially announced.
