On July 27, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that US President Donald Trump's initiatives to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict could have gone further without the obstacles from former President Joe Biden's administration and European leaders.
In an interview, Foreign Minister Szijjarto said that any Western political leader who would obstruct the Ukrainian peace process would be responsible for the delay.
"If former President Biden and European leaders had not hindered President Trump's peace efforts, he could have achieved more success in the past 6 months than the current situation," Szijjarto said.
Last month, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that the intervention of the European Union (EU) in general and its member states in particular in the conflict has caused the war in Ukraine to continue to escalate.

Prime Minister Orban stressed that Ukraine will not be able to win, so continuing to provide weapons will only cause waste, and called on EU diplomats to make the hands of generals to promote mediation through dialogue.
Budapest has long criticized Ukraine's efforts to supply weapons to Kiev and opposed Ukraine's ambition to join the EU and NATO, saying the moves would only prolong the conflict, at an increasingly expensive price for European economies and taxpayers.
Since returning to the White House in January, President Trump has held several phone calls with Russian President Vladimir Putin and repeatedly blamed both Moscow and Kiev for lack of progress.
In May, Ukraine agreed to resume direct talks with Russia under pressure from the US, but negotiations were stalled after two rounds because Kiev said the process was a waste of effort. Ukraine said it only participated to avoid showing disrespect for President Trump's diplomatic initiative.
Meanwhile, Moscow argued that it is still committed to achieving its core goals in Ukraine but prioritizes a diplomatic solution.
