Khaosod newspaper reported that on the morning of July 28, Thai Culture Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, his army and family attended a donation offering ceremony on the occasion of the King's birthday in Sanam Luang, Bangkok.
The official ceremony was chaired by Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai and his wife, with the participation of the Secret Service, the President of the Senate, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, royal units, the Governor of Bangkok, military commanders, members of the National Police, his wife and government ministers.
The Thai king ordered the cancellation of the Royal birthday celebration at Amarin Winitchai Palace on July 28-29 due to concerns that the country is facing threats, with fighting continuing along the Cambodian border.
On the same afternoon, Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechai and the Thai delegation landed in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to meet ASEAN Chairman, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Cambodian partners to negotiate a ceasefire agreement.
"... Today, there will be discussions at 3:00 p.m. in Malaysia. The first issue will be a ceasefire. Cambodia has proposed to Malaysia that China and the US should participate. But what makes us suspicious is that even if a ceasefire is proposed, they will continue to cause problems," Phumtham said at a press conference in the morning before leaving.
The Acting Prime Minister of Thailand announced that he would request a ceasefire, and said that Cambodia was responsible for the incidents that occurred, which were not in accordance with the rules of international law, including shelling of hospitals, civilians, affecting children and students, etc.
At around 11:15 a.m. on July 28, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet shared a photo of him getting on a plane, preparing to take off for Malaysia to negotiate with his Thai counterpart.
"The purpose of this meeting is to achieve an immediate ceasefire, initiated by President Donald Trump and agreed by the Prime Ministers of Cambodia and Thailand," Hun Manet said.
The leaders of Thailand and Cambodia are scheduled to hold talks in the capital Kuala Lumpur at 3:00 p.m. on July 28, local time, which is 2:00 p.m. Hanoi time.
Meanwhile, the Thai military said the Thailand-Cambodia conflict continued for the fifth consecutive day on the morning of July 28, in five border areas across Surin, Si Sa Ket and Ubon Ratchathani, as Cambodia fired rockets and artillery at Thailand.
