On June 9, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban affirmed that Hungarians do not want to sacrifice their rights for Ukraine, in the context of the European Union (EU) seeking to call on members to increase support for Kiev.
Speaking at a rally of European conservatives in France, Mr. Orban said that the EU's intervention in the Ukrainian conflict is being dominated by "herious politicians", causing the war to continue to escalate.
Prime Minister Orban stressed that Ukraine will not be able to win, so continuing to provide weapons will only cause waste, and called on EU diplomats to make the hands of generals to promote mediation through dialogue.
In addition to criticizing billions of euros in military aid to Ukraine, Mr. Orban also opposed the situation where the EU is passed by the same policies as in the war period. This means prioritizing military spending, limiting civil freedoms or reallocating resources.
Not stopping there, the Hungarian Prime Minister also expressed his dissatisfaction when the EU always seeks to borrow huge debts or move towards Federationizing the currencies of member states just to enhance defense capabilities.
In March, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen proposed raising 800 billion euros ($914 billion) through loans and tax incentives to rear the EU in response to what she described as a threat from Russia.
Last month, the European Council officially lit the green light for a 150 billion euro ($171 billion) loan mechanism to finance the bloc's mobilization plan.
Russia has repeatedly denied accusations that it plans to attack EU countries, calling them unreasonable and criticizing the EUs Militarization efforts that make the blocs role increasingly similar to NATO a US-led military bloc that Russia has always been wary of.
Moscow has also accused the EU of deliberately prolonging the conflict in Ukraine by continuing to supply weapons to Kiev.
