On April 23 (local time), according to TASS, Iran is said to have made a list of military targets in the event of a new attack from the US or Israel.
According to sources, this list is built on the principle of correspondence, that is, responding similarly to attacks on Iran's strategic infrastructure. If Iran's energy facilities are attacked, the country may respond by targeting power plants in Israel or at US allies in the Middle East.
In the event that the US continues maritime blockades, Iran is said to be able to consider closing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, and at the same time has the potential to disrupt the Hormuz Strait - an important route for global oil transportation.
The report also said that if a ground offensive from the US occurs, Iran may seek to target US military bases in the region. In addition, Tehran is believed to be able to rely on the support of some local forces and armed groups in the region.
Previously, at the end of February, the US and Israel launched a large-scale military campaign against Iran. By early April, US President Donald Trump announced a 2-week temporary ceasefire agreement between the parties.
According to the Iranian side, in 40 days of conflict, the attacks have killed more than 3,300 people. After that, the two sides had many rounds of negotiations but have not achieved long-term results due to many differences.
By mid-April, the US said it wanted to extend the ceasefire. However, Iranian state media said Tehran did not accept a unilateral extension and would prioritize its conditions.
Iran's representative to the United Nations also said that the possibility of resuming negotiations could be considered if the US lifts maritime blockades.
