The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on the morning of June 3 that the US military had launched "self-defense" attacks on Iran's Qeshm Island. These attacks were in response to "Iran's attack efforts across the Middle East.
“Iran has launched several ballistic missiles towards neighboring countries in the region; however, none of them hit the intended target. Two Iranian missiles fired at Kuwait fell or broke on the flight path, and 3 missiles launched into Bahrain were intercepted immediately by US and Bahrainian air defense forces” - CENTCOM said.
According to CENTCOM, the US attacked an Iranian military ground checkpoint on Qeshm Island and no US soldiers were injured.
Meanwhile, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) informed that its attacks on Kuwait were in response to the US move on Qeshm Island. The IRGC claimed to have fired at least 10 ballistic missiles into Kuwait.
The announcement added that the attacks were just "initial reactions". The IRGC also warned of a much stronger retaliatory attack coming soon.
The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guards also confirmed that they fired missiles at the flagship Panaya of Liberia in response to the US attack on an oil tanker heading to Iran's important oil port in Kharg Island on June 2.
