On May 8th, the atmosphere at Lac Ty II Co., Ltd. (Tan Phu Thanh Industrial Park, Thanh Xuan commune) became more bustling than ever when the ceremony to admit 509 workers to the Vietnam Trade Union organization was solemnly held. Among the radiant faces, Mr. Lam Hoang Tinh could not hide his emotion. For Mr. Tinh, being accepted to work at the company and officially becoming a Trade Union member was a major turning point.
We are completely assured to work because we know that from now on we have an organization that listens, represents, and protects our legitimate and lawful rights and interests against all fluctuations" - Mr. Tinh shared.
Mr. Tinh also affirmed that he will strictly comply with the Trade Union Charter, actively participate in emulation movements launched by the organization, and work hard in production with his colleagues, clearly showing the bravery and capacity of the generation of Can Tho workers.
Following that, on May 16, Mr. Tran Van Dong (foot sole department, TKG Taekwang Can Tho Company, Hung Phu 2B Industrial Park, Hung Phu ward) was also one of 200 workers honored to be admitted to the Vietnam Trade Union.
Sharing about his journey, Mr. Dong said that before, due to the pressure of life, he was only engrossed in working, rarely spending time learning about regimes, policies or his own rights. When the grassroots trade union (CĐCS) closely mobilized and explained the meaning of the organization, he unanimously wrote a application to join.
Mr. Dong confided: "My husband and I work in the same company, the burden of raising two children of school age is very heavy. When we join the Trade Union, the biggest benefit is that we are protected in terms of salary and are given safer working conditions. I also hope the Trade Union organization will continue to pay attention to and give more policies and gifts to workers' children, especially during the Mid-Autumn Festival or International Children's Day.

Grassroots trade unions accompany workers
Ms. Nguyen Thi Gion - Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Lac Ty II Co., Ltd. - informed that promoting the admission of new union members is one of the key activities to respond to Workers' Month 2026. In May alone, the Trade Union is expected to admit about 1,000 union members. With the above-mentioned admission of 509 people, the total number of union members of the company has been increased to 11,858 people, reaching a rate of about 96%.
According to Ms. Gion, a high proportion of union members is a prerequisite for grassroots trade unions to have a stronger voice with the company's board of directors, thereby taking better care of both the material and spiritual lives of workers, making the Trade Union truly become an irreplaceable support.
Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Thoang - Chairwoman of the Grassroots Trade Union of TKG Taekwang Can Tho Co., Ltd., shared that through admitting 200 more workers, the Grassroots Trade Union has raised the total number of union members here to more than 17,700 people.
Most workers after joining have changed their perceptions significantly, they strictly comply with labor discipline, enthusiastically emulate to increase productivity, affirm the bravery of workers in the new era, and accompany the sustainable development of businesses.
Taking union members as the center of action
After merging Can Tho City, Soc Trang province, Hau Giang province into a new Can Tho City, currently, the Can Tho City Labor Federation manages about 650 grassroots trade unions and nearly 200 grassroots trade unions with over 14,000 affiliated members. According to the target for 2026, the Can Tho City Labor Federation will develop 16,000 trade union members.
Highly appreciating the efforts of the units, Ms. Le Thi Suong Mai - Chairwoman of the Can Tho City Labor Federation - acknowledged that the admission of union members right during Workers' Month is a very encouraging sign. This figure is not only meaningful in terms of targets, but more importantly, it is proof of the workers' belief in the "common home" of the Vietnam Trade Union.
We are committed to always accompanying workers in all circumstances, especially in difficult times. When union members have any concerns in work, life or discover inadequacies affecting their rights, please boldly propose through the grassroots trade union. From there, the Trade Union organization will dialogue and negotiate with the business leadership to resolve thoroughly" - Ms. Le Thi Suong Mai emphasized.
The Chairman of the Can Tho City Labor Federation reminded that each worker when admitted is putting on the proud "coat" of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour. Therefore, the collective of union members needs to constantly self-study, improve their skills, be sensitive to technology and well comply with labor discipline to avoid falling behind.
For grassroots trade unions, the Can Tho City Labor Federation has requested to continue to strongly innovate operating methods in a flexible direction, reducing administrative procedures, and putting union members at the center. In addition to caring for and giving gifts, the Trade Union must proactively coordinate with employers to build a safe, harmonious, progressive and civilized working environment. All towards the goal of arousing the spirit of solidarity, responsibility and the strong aspiration to rise up of the working class and the Can Tho Trade Union organization in the new era.
