The news that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian submitted his resignation was published by Fox News, citing a news report from Iranian media.
Accordingly, an unnamed source published by Iran International said that President Pezeshkian stated in his resignation that his administration has been excluded from Iran's important decision-making processes, while the hardline factions in the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) control many key issues.
Mr. Pezeshkian wrote in the letter that he could not run the country effectively or fully fulfill his legal responsibilities in such circumstances. Therefore, the Iranian president proposed to resign.
Iran International noted that it is not yet clear whether the office of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei will accept the resignation of the Iranian president.
However, an official from the Iranian Presidential Office completely denied the above information.
Mr. Seyed Mehdi Tabatabaei - Deputy Head of Communications and Information Dissemination of the Presidential Office - declared: "The unfounded and controversial statements of a young person wanting to draw attention to the President's views should not be taken seriously.
Refuting information about President Pezeshkian's resignation, he added that the rumors spread by foreign media "are just a continuation of previous absurd media dramas".
President Pezeshkian will not give up serving the people, nor will the Iranian nation give up the path of solidarity and struggle. Their desire to break the solidarity of the Iranian people will never come true" - Mr. Seyed Mehdi Tabatabaei emphasized.
