Syria accuses Israeli forces of shelling the countryside of Syria's Quneitra province, with shelling falling into the area near the village of Tarnajah, according to AFP.
According to information from the Syrian side, in another development, Israeli forces advanced before dawn towards the villages of Maariya and Al-Ardah in the Yarmouk basin area west of Daraa. This force, including 3 military vehicles and 1 bulldozer, entered the area, cleared a road and established a checkpoint inside the Al-Ardah village.
There have been no reports of casualties or material damage, and the Israeli military has not commented on the shelling or ground raid reported.
The incidents took place in the context of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres' visit and expected inspection of the United Nations Armed Forces Monitoring Force (UNDOF) in the Golan Heights, as part of efforts to monitor commitments under the ceasefire agreement between Syria and Israel. Mr. Guterres arrived in Damascus yesterday (July 25), beginning a 3-day visit to Syria.
