“We have a deal for the hostages in the Middle East. They will be released soon,” Donald Trump wrote on TruthSocial on January 15.
According to RT, the agreement signed in Qatar includes a 42-day ceasefire and a prisoner exchange, in which all Israeli citizens captured during the October 7, 2023 attack by Hamas from the Gaza Strip will be released.
“This great ceasefire was only possible because of our historic victory in November, signaling to the world that my administration will seek peace and negotiate to ensure the safety of all Americans and our allies,” Trump added in another post.

"Our national security team will continue to work closely with Israel and our allies to ensure Gaza never again becomes a safe haven for terrorism. This is just the beginning of great things for America and the world!" - Mr. Donald Trump emphasized.
Donald Trump's special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, was involved in the talks in Doha and played a key role in convincing the Israeli delegation to accept the deal.
“This agreement was reached with the help of many parties and proves that the policy of peace through strength is the path to victory,” Witkoff said on Israel's Channel 12 on January 15.
“Thank you to the Israeli negotiating teams, thank you to Qatar, thank you to Egypt, thank you to the Joe Biden administration, and above all to President-elect Donald Trump, whose policy of peace through strength has made this victory possible,” Witkoff said.
Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani met with senior Hamas officials to convince the group to accept the deal. Egyptian and Turkish intelligence chiefs also took part in the talks, along with the heads of Israel's Mossad and Shin Bet.
