Israel - Hamas cease fire

US President-elect Donald Trump announced that Israel and Hamas have reached a historic ceasefire agreement.

We have a deal for hostages in the Middle East. They will be released soon, Donald Trump wrote on TruthSocial on January 15.

According to RT, the agreement signed in Qatar includes a 42-day ceasefire and a exchange of prisoners, in which all Israeli citizens arrested in the October 7, 2023 attack by Hamas from the Gaza Strip will be released.

This great ceasefire could only come about thanks to our historic victory in November, signaling to the whole world that my administration will seek peace and negotiate to ensure the safety of all Americans and our allies, Trump added in another post.

"Our national security team will continue to work closely with Israel and our allies to ensure Gaza never becomes a safe haven for terrorism again. This is just the beginning of wonderful things for America and the world! - Mr. Donald Trump emphasized.

Donald Trump's special delegate to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, has been involved in negotiations in Doha and played a key role in persuading the Israeli delegation to accept the deal.

This deal was made with the help of many parties and proves that a peaceful policy through strength is the path to victory, Witkoff told Israels Channel 12 channel on January 15.

Thank you to the Israeli negotiating teams, thank you to Qatar, thank you to Egypt, thank you to the Biden administration, and above all, President-elect Donald Trump, whose power-based peace policies have created this victory, Witkoff said.

Qatari King Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani met with senior Hamas officials to persuade the group to accept the deal. The intelligence leaders of Egypt and Turkey also participated in the negotiations, along with the leaders of the Israel Intelligence Service (Mossad) and the Israel Internal Security Service (Shin Bet).
