At least 9 Palestinians have been killed, including 5 members of the same family, in separate airstrikes carried out by Israel in the Gaza Strip, according to local health officials on June 4.
Medical staff said Israeli planes simultaneously attacked 4 apartments near dawn. The airstrikes killed at least 9 people and injured 15 others.
One of the attacks claimed the lives of 5 people from the same family, including both father and mother.
The Israeli military has not made immediate comments on these incidents.
A video circulating on Palestinian social media, not independently verified, shows people entering a burning apartment after an airstrike to search and take the bodies out with blankets.
The new attacks take place in the context that the ceasefire brokered by US President Donald Trump cannot completely end Israel's military operations in Gaza. After the conflict that broke out from Hamas's attack on southern Israel in October 2023, Israel currently controls more than half of the territory.
Indirect negotiations on the deployment of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement are still deadlocked. The content of this phase includes disarmament of Hamas and the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza.
Israel said its airstrikes were aimed at preventing attacks that are said to be about to occur. Israel also affirmed that it still allows goods and aid to be transported into Gaza.
According to data from Gaza health authorities, about 930 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli airstrikes since the ceasefire took effect. This statistic does not distinguish between civilians and militants.
