Nearly 80 million people across the US East Coast are on guard against a cold air mass from the Arctic this weekend.
Extreme cold warnings are in effect in most of the Northeast and Central Atlantic regions. The morning of February 8th is the coldest morning of winter in the Northeast region.
The temperature perceived by the wind has dropped to extremely cold levels from the Five Lakes to Carolina in the early morning of February 7, and is expected to be even lower.

Meanwhile, places in northern New York state and the northernmost part of New England may experience feelings of cold due to winds dropping to minus 20 and 30 degrees Celsius.
By the morning of February 9th, it was still cold but starting to warm up throughout the northeast region with the wind gradually weakening and the cold no longer as harsh as this weekend.
Gradually, in the coming week, the warming trend is expected to occur throughout the east.
