The first phase of the proposal was officially implemented with Hamas and Israel reaching a ceasefire agreement and released people arrested and detained by one side and released by the other. The war has stopped in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli military has begun its withdrawal from locations in the Gaza Strip under an agreement between Israel and Hamas.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel had achieved the goals set for the war with Hamas over the past two years. Hamas said that the US, some Arab countries in the Middle East and the Gulf region have confirmed that the war in the Gaza Strip has truly ended.
The US has also deployed 200 soldiers stationed in the Middle East and Gulf region to Israel to help establish a multinational force to monitor and ensure the implementation of the agreement between Israel and Hamas, as well as operate and coordinate emergency humanitarian relief activities for people in the Gaza Strip.
These developments help to fulfill the expectation of truly restoring peace in the Gaza Strip as well as preventing war from returning.
Hope for peace in this ceasefire is based on reality because many things have changed before, many positive changes compared to the long-standing ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Trump has succeeded in pushing Netanyahu and Hamas to reach a middle. Or this ceasefire between Hamas and Israel is directly attended by a number of Arab countries in the Middle East, North Africa and the Gulf region. In particular, there must be a multinational force established and deployed to monitor the implementation of what Israel and Hamas have agreed with each other.
But although hope is gradually fading, optimism and confidence are still kept at a cautious level at this time, for many reasons. Israel and Hamas do not trust each other. Hamas also cannot put all its faith in Mr. Trump. Mr. Trump has always been favorably Israel and hostile to Hamas, not only wanting to "de- Hamasasize" but also wanting to "de-palestinize" the Gaza Strip.
Mr. Netanyahu needs to maintain a conflict with Hamas and Palestine to maintain power in Israel, make compromises with Hamas just for the need to rescue hostages and under pressure from Mr. Trump. Netanyahu has defied everything in carrying out the war in the Gaza Strip or attacking Iran and Qatar.
Hamas has approved Trump's principle of a peace proposal, but has reserved its stance on many key contents, especially Hamas' determination not to accept self-dissolve the armament.
So at the present time, it can only be said that the agreement just reached between Israel and Hamas has opened up a prospect of success for Mr. Trump's peace proposal - but that alone is not enough to ensure that this plan can be fully implemented and successfully implemented in practice. Peace can be built in the Gaza Strip, but war between Israel and Hamas can still recur.
