Lion Air's Boeing was running along the ice after landing at Kualanamu Airport, Medan City, Sumatra Island, when it crashed into a Wings Air plane waiting to take off.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident, and the authorities are investigating the cause of the collision.
"All passengers are in good shape, no one was injured. The two aircraft are in the waiting area," GMA quoted Andy Saladin, a Lion Air spokesman, as saying.
Images on social media showed that the left wing of Lion Air and the right wing of Wings Air were severely damaged.
Indonesia's aviation tourism industry is booming, the number of passengers traveling on domestic flights has increased significantly over the past decade. However, Indonesia has a low aviation safety record compared to the world.
In May 2016, two Lion Air aircraft collided at Soekarno Hatta Airport, Jakarta. In April 2016, a Batik Air plane collided with a TransNusa plane.
Last week, the Indonesian Air Traffic Control Association revealed that airline operator AirNav typically allows up to 84 take-offs/landing per hour in the capital Jakarta, increasing the risk of accidents.
