RT reported that at a press conference on March 5, when asked whether the decision to stop aid to Ukraine was permanent, White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said: The National Security Council told me... they have suspended or are reconsidering funding for Ukraine.
Leavitt stressed that this was a temporary holdback for re-evaluation rather than a complete decision to cut off aid.
The decision to temporarily suspend aid was made after a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House on February 28. The meeting ended in tension as the two sides argued fiercely.
Mr Trump accused Mr Zelensky of not really wanting peace with Russia, but only trying to lure Washington into the conflict to continue fighting.

CIA Director John Ratcliffe confirmed that the US has stopped sharing intelligence with Ukraine under Trump's orders, to see if Kiev is truly ready for peace negotiations.
US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz also said President Trump could lift the boycott if there is clear progress in peace negotiations.
Under pressure from Washington, President Zelensky suddenly declared his readiness to immediately carry out a ceasefire and proposed a Prisoner exchange, while pledging not to attack energy and civilian infrastructure.
This move marks a major turning point when he previously denied the possibility of negotiating with Russia. However, Moscow insists it wants a lasting peace and does not accept a temporary ceasefire, which could create conditions for Ukraine to rearme for future conflicts.
Meanwhile, TASS quoted Russian Security Council Vice Chairman Dmitry Medvedev as saying that Washington could resume military aid to Kiev if Ukraine signs a rare earth exploitation agreement with the US.
According to Medvedev, President Trump has informed the National Assembly that he has received a letter from Mr. Zelensky, in which the Ukrainian leader expressed his willingness to sign a rare earth deal that had previously been stalled due to conflicts between the two sides.
Sources from the Pentagon and Bloomberg confirmed that all US arms that have not yet reached Ukraine, including those waiting to be transported in Poland, have been suspended.
Thus, the decision to provide Ukraine with aid not only revolves around the issue of peace or conflict, but is also closely linked to the strategic interests of the US - especially the potential rare earth mineral exploitation agreement between the two countries.
