US expands airstrikes on Iran, targeting airports, bridges and train stations

The US military conducted its 6th consecutive night of attacks on Iran on the night of July 16, early morning of July 17.

US airstrikes targeted an airport, a train station in the port city of Bandar Abbas and 2 bridges in southern Iran, near the Strait of Hormuz, AFP quoted information from Iranian state media on the morning of July 17.

Three explosions were heard around the airport and at least 1 US missile hit Iranshahr airport in the southeast, Iranian state television IRIB reported on Telegram.

A few minutes ago, Bandar Abbas railway station was targeted by the US. According to the news, 2 Iranians were injured in the attack" - Mehr news agency shared on Telegram.

Bandar Abbas is home to Iran's largest port and important facilities of the navy and Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

An official news report said the airstrikes targeted 2 bridges in Hormozgan province. IRNA news agency reported that 2 people were killed and 4 injured.

The US military announced that it had launched its 6th consecutive night of attacks on Iran "to further weaken Iran's military capabilities".

The US and Iran have continuously launched fierce attacks in a week of escalating tensions this week. Tehran has resumed blockading the Strait of Hormuz and Washington has again blockaded Iranian ports since July 15.
