The US Food and Drug Administration raised the warning level for the recall of nearly 19 million eggs due to the risk of salmonella infection.

According to Xinhua News Agency, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) classifies this recall into group 1, the highest warning level, applied in cases where the violating product may cause serious health consequences or death.

The FDA said that Midwest Poultry Services voluntarily recalled the above eggs from July 22, after samples taken at the company's farms in Texas tested positive for salmonella.

The recovered eggs were produced in the period from June 6 to July 3. A total of about 1.6 million boxes, equivalent to nearly 19 million eggs.

The products have been distributed to consumers in the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

However, the FDA noted that Midwest Poultry Services is not involved in all cases in the outbreak and the investigation is still ongoing.

According to the FDA, nearly 100 salmonella infections have been recorded in 17 states between November 21, 2025 and June 30, 2026. As of July 24, 26 people have been hospitalized, but no deaths have been recorded.
