According to the South American Command (SOUTHCOM) on February 5 (US time), the US military launched an attack on another suspected drug ship in the eastern Pacific, killing 2 people.
On February 5, under the direction of SOUTHCOM Commander General Francis L. Donovan, the Southern Spear Joint Task Force launched a deadly military attack on a ship operated by terrorist organizations," SOUTHCOM wrote on social network X, adding that no US military personnel were injured in the attack.
At least 119 people have been killed in attacks targeting drug-suspected ships as part of an operation called Operation Southern Spear. This is a special operation that the Trump administration launched to curb drug trafficking.
The February 5th attack was the 2nd attack announced this year. The previous attack in January 2026 killed two people, leaving only one survivor.
