Russian forces have seized control of 2 residential areas in Sumy and Zaporizhia provinces in the past 24 hours of the special military operation in Ukraine, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on August 26.
Units of the Northern Operations Group have controlled the Pisarevka residential area in Sumy province through decisive operations. Units of the Eastern Operations Group continue to penetrate deep into the enemy's defense line and liberate the Nezhenka residential area in Zaporizhia province through active operations," the Russian Ministry of Defense statement stated.
Also according to the latest data from this agency, the Ukrainian army lost about 1,405 soldiers in battles with Russian forces throughout the frontline area within 24 hours.
In the past 24 hours, the tactical air force, attack drones, Russian missile and artillery forces have attacked logistics centers, fuel infrastructure, energy, transportation and seaports serving the Ukrainian army, ammunition and weapons depots, assembly workshops and depots for unmanned aerial vehicles and components, as well as temporary garrisons of Ukrainian units and foreign mercenaries at 141 locations.
Russian air defense forces announced that they had shot down 798 fixed-wing drones, 12 guided bombs, a rocket of the US-made HIMARS complex and 3 Flamingo long-range cruise missiles.
Since the beginning of the special military operation, the Russian armed forces announced that they have destroyed 674 aircraft, 284 helicopters, 220,067 unmanned aerial vehicles, 669 air defense missile complexes, 30,725 tanks and armored fighting vehicles of all kinds, 1,775 multiple rocket launchers, 36,274 guns and mortars, and 70,240 Ukrainian specialized military vehicles.
