Izvestia reported that on May 28, Russian Ambassador to Sweden, Mr. Sergey Belyaev, used the word "danger" to describe all types of military weapons that Sweden has provided to Ukraine since the conflict with Russia broke out in 2022, including armored personnel carriers, infantry fighting vehicles, tanks, artillery systems and warships.
According to Mr. Belyaev, Ukraine has received more than 9.5 billion USD in support from Stockholm, of which 8.2 billion USD is pure military aid. He said this was a "very great" support.
The Russian ambassador revealed that Sweden has transferred to Kiev early warning and long-range control aircraft, about 200 armored personnel carriers, 90 CV90 infantry fighting vehicles, 8 Archer self-propelled artillery systems, along with tanks, warships and other combat equipment.
Not stopping there, Mr. Belyaev said that the Swedish people have been guided by local authorities and media to take a Ukrainian stance, even nurturing the desire to make Russia a political and military failure.
Mr. Belyaev warned that this trend will have many negative impacts on the Swedish economy and will be difficult to change in the long term.
Russia and Sweden have also had diplomatic conflicts before that.
On February 28, Thomas Nilsson, head of Sweden's military intelligence agency, warned that Europe cannot ignore the threat from Russia, and called for increased defense capabilities to prepare for possible conflict with Moscow.
Immediately afterwards, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov immediately responded, stating that the Russian military has been closely monitoring Sweden's activities since its entry into NATO, while taking necessary measures to ensure national security.
Mr. Peskov emphasized that Sweden is currently fully participating in the NATO alliance, so Russia needs to closely monitor and take appropriate action. However, he later noted that Russia had no plans to attack any country, including Sweden.
