On September 27, a Russian soldier nicknamed sid said that the Moscow army had destroyed a group of nine Ukrainian gunmen who were deploying a strategic airstrike in the special military campaign area.
sid said the operation was halted overnight as a Ukrainian armored fighting vehicle appeared in view. Ukrainian gunmen stepped out and entered a nearby building.
"We have conveyed information about the building. After that, an FAB aerial bomb was dropped. The attack was very accurate and then the building collapsed" - sid answered an interview with local media.
On the same day, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that the Russian military had taken control of the Stepovoye settlements in Dnipro, as well as Derilovo and Mayskoye in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR).
In the latest developments, on September 28, the head of the Kherson region, Mr. Vladimir Saldo, said that the Russian Armed Forces had taken comprehensive control of the Quarantine island area in Kherson.
The Quarantine Island is completely within reach of the fire from our locations. That is the truth. We are maintaining fire control there, said Mr. Saldo.
According to Mr. Saldo, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to use the Quarantine island as a springboard for small-scale military operations, despite Russia's largely advantage in the region.
Mr. Saldo revealed that small groups of Ukrainian soldiers often move to the island at night and take shelter in houses, but noted that the Russian military has not yet been able to completely "clear" the island due to the opponent's night-time travel activities.
Previously, on September 23, Russia also successfully blocked another Ukrainian airstrike in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR).
According to information from the Russian Defense Ministry, the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) reconnaissance team discovered an unusually large gathering of Ukrainian soldiers in a remote area near Chasov Yar.
Immediately afterwards, D-20 artillery teams deployed their mission, attacking and eliminating a Ukrainian unit hiding in a multi-storey building.
"Thanks to the smooth coordination and brave spirit of the firefighters, the task was completed, the enemy's army and ammunition depot disguised in the forest were destroyed" - the statement stated.
