RT reported that the Russian Defense Ministry shared a video on September 3 showing the destruction of the Czech-made Vampire MLRS multiple rocket launcher system used by Ukrainian forces near the Russian border.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the Western-made MLRS was spotted moving and was fired by Ukrainian soldiers at Russian positions during reconnaissance operations in the Sumy region. This is the area where Ukraine launched a major offensive into Russia's Kursk region last month.
After analyzing the intelligence, the Russian command made a decision to destroy the enemy's combat weapons with high-precision Krasnopol shells, noting that Ukrainian soldiers operating the Vampire were also killed in the attack.
In the video of more than half a minute shared by the Russian Defense Ministry, it can be seen that Vampire MLRS fired many missiles before being destroyed with just one attack.
According to the daily update of the Russian Defense Ministry on September 3, within 24 hours, the Kiev forces were said to have lost up to 400 servicemen and 12 armored fighting vehicles, as well as three artillery pieces, one MLRS, one missile and anti-aircraft gun system, one electronic warfare station and 12 cars.
The Russian Defense Ministry also provided updated information about Ukrainian casualties since the start of the Kursk attack. According to the latest estimate, Ukrainian forces have lost more than 9,300 soldiers, 80 tanks and hundreds of other vehicles and heavy equipment since the campaign began.
On August 6, Kiev deployed thousands of troops to the Russian border area with the goal of creating a " buffer zone" on Russian soil. Despite some initial achievements, Moscow said Kiev's advance had been stopped, while the Ukrainian army continued to suffer heavy losses.
