RT reported that the Russian Defense Ministry shared a video on September 3 showing the destruction of a Czech-made Vampire MLRS multiple launch rocket system used by Ukrainian forces near the Russian border.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the Western-made MLRS was detected moving and fired by Ukrainian servicemen at Russian positions during reconnaissance operations in Sumy Oblast, the area from which Ukraine launched a major offensive in Russia’s Kursk Oblast last month.
After analyzing the intelligence, the Russian command made the decision to destroy the enemy's combat weapons with high-precision Krasnopol ammunition, noting that Ukrainian servicemen operating Vampires were also killed in the attack.
In a half-minute-long video shared by the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Vampire MLRS can be seen firing multiple missiles before being destroyed with a single strike.
According to the daily update of the Russian Defense Ministry on September 3, within 24 hours, Kiev forces are said to have lost up to 400 servicemen and 12 armored fighting vehicles, as well as three artillery pieces, an MLRS, an anti-aircraft missile and gun system, an electronic warfare station and 12 cars.
The Russian Defense Ministry also provided an update on Ukrainian casualties since the start of the Kursk offensive. According to the latest estimates, Ukrainian forces have lost more than 9,300 troops, 80 tanks and hundreds of other vehicles and heavy equipment since the start of the operation.
On August 6, Kiev deployed thousands of troops to the Russian border with the aim of creating a “buffer zone” on Russian soil. Despite some initial successes, according to Moscow, Kiev’s advance has been halted, while the Ukrainian army continues to suffer heavy casualties.
