Russia and Kazakhstan are considering increasing the ability to transit oil and gas to the union.

Russia and Kazakhstan are considering the possibility of increasing oil and gas transit through the Republic and supplying Russian gas to northern and northeastern Kazakhstan.

The increase in the transit of Russian oil and gas through Kazakhstan was discussed at a meeting between Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, Advisor to Kazakhstan's President Magzum Mirzagaliyev and Kazakhstan's Energy Minister Erlan Akkenzhenov.

"During the meeting, the sides discussed increasing Russian oil and gas supplies through Kazakhstan as well as the possibility of supplying Russian gas to the north and northeast of the country," the statement said.

The meeting also discussed the participation of Russian companies in oil projects in Kazakhstan, as well as the possibility of cooperation in the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and in the fields of finance and banking.

At the meeting, the sides also discussed cooperation through OPEC+, interaction in the energy sector, including electricity, hydropower and renewable energy sources.

The sides also mentioned the involvement of Russian experts in the projects to build three coal-fired thermal power plants to be built in Kazakhstan in the cities of Kokshetau, Semey and Ust-Kamenogorsk.
