The Russian Foreign Ministry's statement said that the two sides discussed relations with the US and prospects for a comprehensive and cohesive solution to the Ukrainian crisis according to the principles of the United Nations Charter. The two sides also touched on other hot international issues, including the Iran- Israel conflict and the situation on the Korean peninsula.
The two foreign ministers expressed their satisfaction with the positive trend in comprehensive cooperation between Russia and China, and discussed in depth the bilateral agenda, especially the implementation of the agreements reached at the May summit in Moscow. The exchange also mentioned aspects of practical cooperation, including the field of humanity.
The two sides discussed cooperation within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Special attention is paid to the content of the upcoming SCO Summit, as well as the SCO+ Summit, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
The two sides emphasized the importance of strengthening close coordination in the international arena, including at the United Nations and the Security Council, the SCO, BRICS, the G20 and APEC.
The Russian Foreign Ministry added that the two Foreign Ministers affirmed their strong support for issues related to the core interests of each side, including the protection of sovereignty, territorial integrity and national unity in all forms of region and nation.
Foreign Minister Lavrov visited Beijing to attend the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers. According to Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, Mr. Lavrov is expected to hold a number of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of this conference.
