On the night of September 16 and early morning of September 17 (local time), the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that combat air defense units had intercepted and destroyed 641 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of Ukraine.
The large-scale attack took place over the airspace of 20 Russian provinces, the Crimean peninsula and the Black Sea, the Azov Sea and the Caspian Sea.
In Yaroslavl province, Governor Mikhail Yevrayev said that air defense had shot down 65 UAVs. A fire broke out at a local oil refinery due to a raid before firefighters completely controlled the fire.
To ensure safety after discovering UAV debris, police have temporarily blocked the route from Yaroslavl towards Moscow, directing vehicles to circulate around Gagarin street. Many nearby apartments and cars also had broken windows.
In Rostov province, Governor Yury Slyusar said that UAV debris fell and damaged a transformer station, causing widespread power outages. The incident damaged roofs and windows of at least 6 houses.
In addition, many other localities also recorded damage to houses, corrugated iron roofs and vehicles due to falling debris, but there have been no reports of casualties.
