Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Beijing on May 20, just days after the summit meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump in the Chinese capital.
SCMP quoted an unnamed source as saying that the Russian President's 1-day visit to China is a regular activity in Russia-China bilateral relations. It is expected that there will be no solemn ceremonies such as the honor guard parade.
The Kremlin has not officially announced the date of Mr. Putin's visit to China.
Mr. Putin's visit to China will mark the Russian leader's first foreign trip of the year, highlighting the good relationship between Beijing and Moscow.
In April this year, President Xi Jinping praised the stability of relations with Russia and pledged to strengthen deeper bilateral coordination in a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
In May, Mr. Putin said that the two countries agreed in principle to take another important step in oil and gas cooperation, and expressed their desire to discuss nuclear energy with Mr. Xi Jinping.
