On July 27 (local time), according to TASS, US President Donald Trump affirmed that Washington would "multiplier" the money spent on the military campaign against Iran, and said that the US would gain economic benefits from the conflict.
Speaking to the press on Air Force One, Mr. Trump cited the case of Venezuela to prove his opinion.
With Venezuela, we have recovered that money many times and the same thing will happen with Iran," Mr. Trump said.
The statement was made in the context that the cost of the US military campaign against Iran is attracting the attention of public opinion and lawmakers.
Earlier this month, US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said the military campaign against Iran cost about $37.5 billion. This is one of the few times the US administration has announced estimates of the cost of the campaign.
President Trump said the US is currently collecting "billions of dollars" from Venezuela and believes that the same scenario will be repeated with Iran.
That will happen to Iran too," he emphasized.
Mr. Trump's statement reflects the long-standing view that US military operations not only serve security goals but also need to bring economic benefits to Washington.
These comments were made in the context of tensions between the US and Iran that have not yet cooled down after recent military attacks. Conflict developments continue to be closely monitored by the international community as they may affect security in the Middle East region, energy markets as well as the global economy.
To date, Iran has not responded to President Trump's latest statement regarding military campaign costs.
According to TASS, in addition to affirming that the US will "recover many times more" of the money spent, Mr. Trump did not mention the time, method or basis for making this assessment.
Mr. Trump's statement was made in the context that the US administration continues to defend its decision to launch a military campaign against Iran, while emphasizing the strategic and economic benefits that Washington expects to achieve after the campaign.
