Iran warns of consequences if Britain joins the US in the Middle East

Iran declares it will consider British interests in the Middle East as military targets if London joins the US campaign against Iran.

A senior Iranian source warned that British interests in the Middle East would become military targets if the government of new Prime Minister Andy Burnham decided to participate in the US military campaign against Iran.

On July 21 (local time), according to TASS news agency, Tehran is closely monitoring information about London's possible participation in Washington's military operations.

If information about the decision of new British Prime Minister Andy Burnham to participate in the US-launched war against Iran is confirmed, in addition to political and legal consequences, all British interests in the region will be on the target list of the Iranian armed forces," the source told TASS.

Although not specifying the targets, Iran implied that the system of British military bases, logistics facilities, diplomatic missions and garrisons in the Middle East and the Gulf could be targeted if London directly intervenes in the conflict.

The source affirmed that Tehran will consider the UK's engagement with the US as a military intervention and will take corresponding retaliatory measures.

At the same time, the Iranian side also reiterated that Britain had witnessed Tehran making similar warnings in the 40-day conflict before that.

Britain has seen Iran turn warnings into actions in a 40-day conflict," the source emphasized.

The statement was made in the context of escalating conflict between the US and Iran after a series of airstrikes targeting Tehran's military targets and infrastructure.

In recent days, international media has continuously mentioned the possibility that the new British government will strengthen coordination with Washington in military operations in the Middle East.

To date, the British government has not confirmed its participation in the US military campaign, and has not commented on the warning from Iran.

Observers believe that if London actually engages in war, the risk of direct confrontation between Britain and Iran will increase, leading to the risk of widespread instability in the Middle East in the context of the region already tense due to prolonged fighting.
