"It will be soon" - Mr. Donald Trump told reporters on the Air Force One. He added that a good Fed president would cut interest rates.
When asked specifically about former Fed Governor Kevin Warsh, President Trump said, "he is highly appreciated". Mr. Warsh is considered Mr. Trump's leading candidate for the next Fed president.
Previously, on June 6, Mr. Trump said that the US Federal Reserve should cut interest rates by 1%. He also reiterated Fed Chairman Jerome Powell's view that borrowing costs has been too slow.
President Donald Trump has repeatedly criticized Mr. Powell for not cutting interest rates as he hoped.
Mr. Trump and Mr. Powell had their first face-to-face meeting last week. During the meeting, Mr. Trump told Mr. Powell that Mr. Powell made a mistake in not cutting interest rates.
