On the morning of September 28 (local time), the police force said that they had discovered a person dead, hiding in the take-off compartment of an American Airlines plane in Charlotte, North Carolina.
This flight just landed at Charlotte Douglas International Airport from Europe.
The technical team discovered the body shortly after 9 a.m. (local time), and police arrived at the scene to confirm the person had died, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
We are coordinating with law enforcement agencies in the investigation, said an American Airlines spokesperson.
The airport also confirmed its knowledge of the incident, saying: "We are deeply saddened by this news and will support the police's investigation when necessary."
detectives from the murder investigation unit were present at the scene, and the case is still under investigation.
This is at least the second time this year that a person has been spotted hiding in an airspace at a US airport.
The two were also found dead in the runway of a Jet Blue at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York in January.
