Brunei King begins State visit to Vietnam

The visit of the King of Brunei affirms the determination of the two countries to continuously strengthen friendship and cooperation.

On the afternoon of November 30, King of Brunei Darussalam Haji Hassanal Bolkiah arrived in Hanoi, starting a state visit to Vietnam from November 30 to December 2, 2025, at the invitation of Politburo member and President Luong Cuong.

At Noi Bai International Airport, the delegation was welcomed by: Head of the Office of the President Le Khanh Hai; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Manh Cuong; Vietnamese Ambassador to Brunei Tran Anh Vu; Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen.

On the Brunei side, there were Brunei's second Foreign Minister Dato Erywan Pehin Yusof; Brunei Ambassador to Vietnam Datin Hajah Halimah Malai Haji Yussof.

Accompanying Brunei King Darussalam Haji Hassanal Bolkiah on State visits to Vietnam were: Prince of Brunei Abdul Mateen; Minister of Health Dato Dr. Hj Mohd Isham Jaafar; Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy Dato Dr. Amin Liew Abdullah; Second Foreign Minister Dato Erywan Pehin Pehin Yusof; Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism Dato Dr. Abdul Manaf Metussin; Secretary of State Pehin Dato Dr. Ustaz Hj Abdul Juned; Member of the Pehin Secretariat Dato Hj Abdul Wahabd Said; Deputy Minister at the Office of Prime Minister Dato Rijriza Dato Mohd Yunhimos; Ambassador of Brunei Ha mudasiasi Halah Hajri Yafso Yafso in Vietnam.

King Haji Hassanal Bolkiah also holds the position of Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense, Minister of Finance and Economy, Minister of Foreign Affairs; born on July 15, 1946 in Brunei town (now Bandar Seri Begawan).

He studied at Brunei Darussalam, then continued his studies in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The King received an officer training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (UK) in 1966-1967.

King Haji Hassanal Bolkiah was crowned Prince in 21. After King Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Saadul Khairi waddien deposed, he was declared King of Brunei Darussalam on October 5, 1967; crowned the 29th King and Prime Minister of Brunei Darussalam on August 1, 2019.

The visit of the King of Brunei affirms the determination of the two countries to continuously strengthen and deepen the friendship and cooperation in all fields after upgrading the bilateral relationship to Comprehensive Partnership in 2019.
