Early this morning (September 1), the tropical depression in the western sea area of the North East Sea strengthened into a storm, becoming storm No. 5 in 2026, with the international name Saudel.
At 4:00 AM on September 1st, the storm center was located at about 18.7 degrees North latitude - 111.8 degrees East longitude, in the sea area west of the Northern East Sea, about 240km north of the Hoang Sa special zone. The strongest wind near the storm center was level 8 (62-74 km/h), gusting to level 10. The storm is moving in the Northeast direction at a speed of 15-20 km/h.
Forecast for the next 24 hours, the storm will move in a Northeast direction, at a speed of 20-25 km/h.
By 4:00 AM on September 2nd, the storm's center will be located at about 21.3 degrees North latitude - 116.3 degrees East longitude; over the northeastern sea area of the Northern East Sea. Wind intensity is strong at level 8, gusting at level 10.
The dangerous area is located about the north of latitude 17.5 degrees North latitude; from longitude 110.5 to 117.5 degrees East longitude. The disaster risk level is level 3 for the Northern East Sea area (including the Hoang Sa special zone).
Forecast for the next 48 hours, the storm will move in a Northeast direction, at a speed of 15-20 km/h.
By 4:00 AM on September 3rd, the storm's center will be located at about 22.7 degrees North latitude - 118.2 degrees East longitude; over the northeastern sea area of the Northern East Sea. Wind intensity is strong at level 8, gusting at level 10.
The dangerous area is located about the north of the 20th parallel of the North latitude; from the 115.5 to 119.5 degrees East longitude. The disaster risk level is level 3 for the northeastern sea area of the Northern East Sea.
Forecast for the next 72 hours, the storm will move in a North-Northwest direction, at a speed of 3-5 km/h and gradually weaken into a tropical depression.
By 4:00 AM on September 4th, the center of the tropical depression will be located at approximately 23.2 degrees North latitude - 117.9 degrees East longitude; over the sea area south of Fujian province (China). Wind intensity is strong at level 7, gusting at level 9.
The dangerous area is located about 21.5 degrees North latitude north; from longitude 116.5 to 119.5 degrees East longitude. The disaster risk level is level 3 for the northeastern sea area of the Northern East Sea.
From 72 to 120 hours later, the tropical depression will change direction and move mainly in a westerly direction, moving 3-5km per hour and gradually weakening.
Regarding the impact of the storm, at sea, the Northern East Sea area (including the Hoang Sa special zone) has strong winds at level 6-7, gusts at level 8-9, sea waves 2-4m high; the area near the storm center passing through is strong at level 8, gusts at level 10, sea waves 3-5m high; strong sea waves.
Ships operating in the above-mentioned dangerous areas are likely to be affected by thunderstorms, tornadoes, strong winds, and large waves.
