The department of Animal Husbandry in eastern China has rejected the suggestion that some of the dog bears at the facility may have been human-carried.
Previously, a video of a bear standing on the back legs, identified as Angela - a Malaysian dog bear - went viral online.
When it comes to bears, the first thing people envision is their giant shape and incredible strength... But not all bears are giant and dangerous. Our Malayan bears are very small, the smallest bear in the world," the zoo in Hangzhou said in a statement.
Previously, a video of a dog bear standing on the back legs went viral on social media. The online community noticed the thin legs and the folding moves on the fur that look like a human playing a bear.
An employee revealed to AP that the zoo opened a visit to reporters on July 31 so they could personally see the bears.
According to Hangzhou Zoo, the dog bear is the size of a large dog, the tallest being 1.3 m when standing on the back legs. When standing like that, North American gray bears and other species are up to 2.8 m tall.
Other animals in China have been accused of dyeing dogs to look like African Wolves or cats and cheating them to look like barren horses.
