RT reported that on February 8, Senator Dmitry Rogozin said that a Ukrainian suicide unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) tried to crash into a civilian car traveling on the road in Russia's Zaporizhzhia region but the driver promptly avoided it.
In a social media post, Rogozin, a former leader of Russia's Roscosmos space agency, said the attack occurred near the village of Lyubimovka, on the highway connecting Melitopol city to Vasilyevka village, about 20 km from the frontline.
The 12-second video shared by the president shows a large UAV plunging into a civilian SUV, with an explosion that occurred right next to the vehicle as the driver took time to steer it to avoid the hit. The attack did not appear to have caused any casualties.
Commenting on the video, Mr. Rogozin was surprised by the driver's quick reaction, saying that this person may have detected the UAV through a rearview mirror or received warnings from another vehicle. In any case, he is very lucky, the Senator commented.
He also stressed that there was no reason to believe that the car was related to the Russian army, as all signs showed that this was a civilian means, and stated that Russia was facing "war crimes".
Russia has repeatedly accused Ukraine of carrying out ill-fated attacks targeting civilian infrastructure and non-military vehicles, including ambulances. Last week, Russian officials said a Ukrainian UAV attacked a school bus in the Zaporizhzhia region, injuring the driver and five children.
