US announces agreement on Greenland security
On September 18 (local time), according to TASS, US President Donald Trump announced that the US, Denmark and Greenland had reached an agreement allowing Washington to long-term control security issues on this island.
On the social network Truth Social, Mr. Trump said the agreement with Denmark and Greenland gives the US "long-term control" over security and other needs in Greenland.
According to the US President, the agreement ensures that Washington "permanently" has the full capacity to take necessary measures to protect the security of Greenland and the United States.
Mr. Trump also said that the US will immediately begin expanding its military presence in Greenland and coordinate with local people in the process of building and developing military facilities.
President Trump signs law to expand sanctions against Russia
Also according to TASS, the White House said that Mr. Trump on September 18 signed a bill passed by the US Congress, expanding sanctions against Russia.
According to the new law, the US can apply and expand sanctions, tariffs and bans against Russia, while extending current sanctions against Iran.
The law also allows the US to impose tariffs of up to 100% on countries that buy large quantities of oil and gas from Russia. Measures to increase economic pressure on Iran are also included in the law.
Iran war costs the US $43.6 billion
A report by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) shows that the conflict with Iran has cost US taxpayers $43.6 billion as of September 3, according to TASS, citing information.
Of which, about 11.2 billion USD was spent on military operations, 28.1 billion USD to replenish ammunition and 4.3 billion USD to replace damaged equipment.
Previously, the US Congressional Budget Office estimated that the conflict with Iran would cost about 2-3 billion USD per month. The total cost in the first 5 months of the war is estimated at about 38 billion USD.
The US and Israel launched war with Iran on February 28. The two sides reached a memorandum of understanding on ceasing hostilities on all fronts in June, but the US resumed large-scale airstrikes against Iran on the night of July 8.
