Russian woman Nina Kutina, 40, was found living in a cave in the Indian state of Karnataka with two daughters, 6 and 4. The woman was found in a cave on July 9 near Gokarna, in Uttara Kannada district, Karnataka.
Officials said Nina Kutina's visa has expired since 2017. The woman is currently in a detention center in Bengaluru.
Outside a hospital in Bengaluru, Nina Kutina revealed that she was "very happy to be in the forest with the children and that it was the first time the children saw the hospital and the doctor".
"We have a lot of experience living in nature, in the forest. We didn't die and I didn't bring my daughters here to die together. The children were very happy, swimming in the waterfall, having a very good place to sleep. The children have learned many lessons about art, such as clay making and painting. We often cook and eat delicious dishes," said the Russian mother.
Nina Kutina said she has traveled to at least 20 countries, including Costa Rica, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Nepal, Ukraine and lived in many different forests "because we love nature".
In India, the Russian woman lived in Rishikesh for some time before moving to Gokarna. The woman said that her visa expiration in India "had not been long ago" and that after 2017, her family "had been in 4 countries before returning to India".
An official at a foreign residence registration agency FRRO said that he had found the father of the two children, an Israeli citizen, in India on a business visa.
On July 15, frRO officials held a meeting with the Israeli man to learn about the possibility of giving Nina Kutina and her children a ticket guarantee.
"The Israeli man, about 40, has known Nina for a long time and they are in love. Therefore, he is the father of the children living with Nina. He works in the clothing business. We have met him," said a official.
A source said that Nina Kutina initially did not want to discuss or disclose details about the children's father. However, after being consulted, the woman opened up and provided information about an Israeli citizen with whom she was having a relationship.
The FRRO officials have contacted the Russian consulate and said it will take nearly a month to complete all procedures before deporting the woman and her children.
"She has another child in Russia and we have informed the Consulate General of Russia in Chennai," an Indian official said.
According to many sources, Nina Kutina met the Israeli man in 2017 or 2018 and the man had returned home.
She claimed to have given birth on her own while in a cave in Goa. Although unbelievable, we cannot deny it, said a Gokarna police officer.
