The National Meteorological Center (NMC) said that Typhoon Bavi, the 8th typhoon of the year, strengthened from the tropical depression on the morning of August 22 and was 390 kilometers west of Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan, with winds of 100.8 km/h at 5:00 a.m. on August 23.
Xinhua News Agency said that from the morning of August 23 to the morning of August 24, the storm is expected to make landfall in some coastal areas of Fujian, Zhejiang provinces and Taiwan.
According to the NMC, the storm will move northeast at a speed of 10-15 km/h before moving northeast of the Chinese Lunar New Year on August 26.
NMC recommends that people and boats in areas prone to natural disasters should prepare well.
China's National Meteorological Center renews green alert for Typhoon Bavi. China has a weather warning system of four colors, with red being the highest, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
