RT quoted the Russian Defense Ministry as saying that Ukraine has lost about 11,400 soldiers since launching an attack on Russia's Kursk province on August 6.
The Russian military has also destroyed more than 1,000 Ukrainian military equipment units, including 89 tanks, 42 infantry fighting vehicles, 74 armored personnel carriers, 635 armored fighting vehicles, 371 cars, 85 artillery pieces and 24 multiple rocket launchers, including seven US-made HIMARS systems - the Russian Defense Ministry announced in an update on September 9.
In the past 24 hours alone, Ukraine has lost 240 servicemen and 13 equipment units, according to the ministry's estimate.
In the past day, Russian ground forces, backed by artillery and air forces, repelled three Ukrainian attacks near the settlements of Mikhailovka, Cherkasskaya Konopelka and Desyatoye Octyabrya.
The Kiev army tried to advance on the villages of Malaya Loknya, Korenevo, Kremyanoye and Martynovka, but was also pushed back, the statement added.
"S well-off and searching areas in the forest to search and destroy the sabotage groups of the enemy that are trying to penetrate deeper into Russian territory are still ongoing," the Defense Ministry stressed.
According to the statement, the Russian army, artillery and air force have launched fierce attacks on Ukrainian positions at more than a dozen locations in Kursk province. Airstrikes and missiles have also been targeted at foreign military concentrations and hostages in Ukraine's Sumy region, which borders Russia.
Ukrainian forces entered Kursk Oblast on August 6, in their largest attack on Russian territory since the two sides began fighting in February 2022.
The Ukrainian advance was quickly blocked by the Russian army, but fighting in the area continued, and the Kiev army still held some settlements on the border.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said last week that the liberation of Kursk province is a "sacred mission" of the Russian army. According to Mr. Putin, by targeting this region, Ukraine wants to make Moscow " worried" and force the redeployment of units from other important areas of the front line.
"Will the enemy succeed? No, they have achieved nothing," Putin stressed. The president added that Russian forces "stabilized the situation and began to gradually push the enemy back from border territories" in Kursk, while accelerating their advance in Donbass and other areas of the front line.
Also on September 9, the Russian Defense Ministry released a video of Russian self-propelled artillery attacking Ukrainian forces in the forest belt.
During the reconnaissance and search, the soldiers discovered a stronghold of the Ukrainian armed forces. The location data of the opponent was immediately transmitted to the artillery command post.
The Nona self-propelled artillery arrived at the scene of fire and attack. Combat operations were carried out at night using night vision and heat image devices to prevent the enemy's aerial surveillance system from detecting them.
Drones are used to reconnait enemy targets, regulate firepower and track combat targets.
