Mr. Donald Trump chose Michigan - a key battleground state that helped him overwhelm Kamala Harris in the US election in November 2024 - as the site of an important milestone in this term.
In his speech, US President Donald Trump continued to emphasize the familiar slogan "Make America Great again" (MAGA) and affirmed the outstanding achievements during more than three months of his term.
The early stages of Trump's second term have seen a series of strong changes in many policy areas. The President has clearly affirmed his executive power, especially in issues of border security, trade, education, civil rights, technology and innovation.
According to The Guardian, one of the most notable decisions is the establishment of a Ministry of Government Efficiency headed by billionaire Elon Musk, with the task of reforming and cutting spending of the federal administration.
Mr. Trump has also signed a record number of executive decrees, thereby disrupting the administrative apparatus, reshaping foreign policy and creating shocks in both domestic and global markets. The high counterpart tariffs applied to the majority of trading partners are also part of the strategy to strengthen the US position.
Many Trump supporters and Republicans see these changes as a historic turning point, parallel to the influence of the late President Franklin Roosevelt - who served as US president from 1933 to 1945 - in reshaping the role of the United States in the international arena.
However, public opinion polls show a less optimistic picture. Fox News' National Survey from April 18 to 21 shows that 44 percent of the population support Mr Trump, while 55% are against.
This rate is similar in other recent surveys: ABC News/W Washington Post (42% - 55%), New York Times/Siena College (42% - 54%), CNN (43% - 57%), Reuters/Ipsos (42% - 53%), Pew Research (40% - 59%) and AP/NORC (39% - 59%).
