Cargo ship of 24,000 tons stranded in Hue sea, big waves obstruct rescue

HUE - Star City cargo ship with a tonnage of more than 24,000 tons drifted and ran aground in the Chan May - Lang Co sea area due to large waves.

On the evening of September 12, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Huynh Van Toan - General Director of Chan May Port Joint Stock Company - said that the cargo ship Star City, with a tonnage of more than 24,000 tons, was drifting and stranded in the Chan May - Lang Co sea area (Hue City).

Due to large waves, vehicles cannot approach to support the ship. It is expected that at about 9:30 PM on the same day, units will approach the Star City ship to deploy support plans.

Previously, fishing vessel TTH-30115-TS, 9m long, owned by Mr. Ha Ng (born 1985, residing in Thuan An ward, Hue city), was sunk by big waves and strong winds while anchored in the Thuan An fishing port area.

According to forecasts, from September 11 to 15, Hue City will have moderate to heavy rain, with very heavy rain in some places. Rain will concentrate most strongly from September 12 to 14, with a common total amount of 250-400mm, with some places over 500mm.
