President Donald Trump has ordered multiple strikes against terrorist targets in northwestern Nigeria.

In a post on Truth Social on the evening of December 25, President Donald Trump said that strong attacks, causing casualties targeting terrorist elements of the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) have taken place. There are currently no further details about the attacks.

US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth shared President Trump's post on his social media account X, saying he " Appreciated the support and cooperation of the Ninh government".

The US attack on IS in Nigeria comes as Nigeria has just recorded an explosion at a Hoi giao church in the northeast of the country on the evening of December 24, killing five people and injuring 35 others.

In Nigeria, Islam is mainly concentrated in the north and Kristance is concentrated in the south.

The US has recently taken steps to punish Nigeria on charges of not protecting Christmas people.

In October, President Donald Trump added Nigeria to the list of countries that the US said had violated religious freedom.

Earlier this week, Nigeria was added to the list of countries with entry restrictions to the US, with partial restrictions and entry restrictions.

According to Republican lawmaker Riley Moore, who recently visited Nigeria, the US and Nigeria have established a joint task force to address security issues.
